The Myth of Technological Superiority
Prominent media commentator Hind El-Dhawi has asserted that Israel’s reliance on advanced technology has failed to yield the decisive military results expected in its ongoing regional conflicts. During her program on Cairo Ka-Nas, El-Dhawi pointed to assessments by Israeli military expert Yitzhak Brick, who admitted that Tel Aviv has failed to meet its primary objectives regarding the Iran war and operations in Lebanon.
El-Dhawi argued that Israel’s narrative of technological invincibility has effectively collapsed. Despite marketing a high-tech edge as a guarantee of victory, the realities on the ground have proven that sophisticated systems cannot compensate for the lack of traditional infantry capability or the resilience of adversaries like Hezbollah and Hamas.
The commentator highlighted that Israel previously claimed to have neutralized the threat posed by Hezbollah, only to find the group’s combat capabilities remained intact during the subsequent stages of the conflict. This realization, she noted, forced a pivot toward diplomatic negotiations as a result of stalled military progress.
Addressing the performance of the Israeli military, El-Dhawi suggested that the human element remains the decisive factor in modern warfare. She criticized the operational readiness of the Israeli soldier, describing current performance levels as struggling compared to international standards. Ultimately, the transition from aggressive posturing to negotiation underscores the limitations of relying solely on air power and surveillance in volatile conflict zones.
